Program Information

Why Choose Stowe Mountain Bike Academy?

At Stowe Mountain Bike Academy, we believe in a positive and encouraging learning environment, fostering camaraderie among camp participants and instilling a sense of achievement.

As soon as your child arrives at our campus, our friendly and knowledgeable instructors will greet them and kick off the camp with a comprehensive introduction. We will assess their skill level through fun games and talk about goals tailoring the camp curriculum to suit the needs of each participant.

Throughout the camp, we will focus on the fundamental techniques crucial to mountain biking success. From mastering proper body positioning and balance to enhancing cornering and braking skills, and getting comfortable in the air, our instructors will provide personalized guidance to help your child conquer any trail with confidence.

Within our larger camp experience, camp sessions are structured into small groups, safely providing individual attention and instruction.

Here's why our camps stands out from the rest:

  • Our team of seasoned coaches are not only passionate riders themselves but also possess years of experience teaching and guiding young riders. They are dedicated to helping each camper develop their skills, build confidence, and push their limits in a controlled and progressive manner.

  • Vermont and more locally, Stowe, boasts a vast network of trails, catering to riders of every skill level. Ride like a local and discover some of Stowe’s lesser known gems or gain access to the best private network in Vermont when you participate in SMBA!

  • We understand that each camper has unique goals and aspirations (and stamina!). Our coaches get to know riders and form small groups to ensure each rider receives an MTB experience perfect for them while being equipped to meet new challenges and grow their skills!

  • Our camp is conveniently located at Cady Hill Lodge in the heart of Stowe and has amble indoor space so regardless of weather, SMBA camps keeps rolling!

  • While mountain biking may be our main focus, we understand the importance of a well-rounded experience especially for our younger campers. Alongside riding, our campers partake in a range of exciting off-bike activities, including team-building exercises, visiting Stowe swimming holes, engaging in workshops on bike maintenance, working with Stowe Trail Partnership on trail maintenance, or learning about ecology and wildlife with Stowe Land Trust.

  • At SMBA, we believe that camaraderie is a vital aspect of the mountain biking experience. Our camp fosters a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, where lasting friendships are forged, and riders uplift and inspire one another. The memories created at our camp will last a lifetime!

  • SMBA is the only camp in Stowe (and maybe beyond?) to offer a lunch meal program!

Year after year we’ve paired the amazing Edelweiss Mountain Deli to offer a custom lunch program! Choose from a list of options for the week and Edelweiss makes a fresh lunch each day!

Our staff delivers lunch to riders regardless of where their group is - even trail side picnic!

Additionally, every week long camp ends in a pizza party! Snacks and water are available to our riders free of charge and include goldfish crackers, granola bars, fruit chews, apple sauce, and Starbust candy for a special treat!

  • Each camp culminates in a Google photos link for families to see their child in action! Download and share!

  • Available for our Ripper and Stowe-based Shredder Camps, we offer an additional hour of activities to assist families for whom a 4pm pick up is challenging.

  • Although all campers are expected to arrive to camp with well-functioning and properly maintained bikes, we get that things happen when your ripping up the trails and mechanical issues come up.

Just because a mechanical issues pops up, it doesn’t mean your child’s day is done!

Thankfully, SMBA coaches have loads of bike mechanic experience, but if they can’t fix it, our partner bikes shops prioritize our riders and can often have our riders up and running again in no time.
